Integrity and transparency crucial for infrastructure services, says Masidi

KOTA KINABALU: Integrity and transparency cannot be compromised in the aim to provide consistent and quality infrastructure services to the people, said Datuk Seri Masidi Manjun (pic).

The Finance Minister stated that this principle also applies to providing power supply to the community.

He said this when witnessing Sabah Electricity Sdn Bhd (SESB) sign a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) and their Corruption-Free pledge on Monday (June 10).

"Electricity is one of the most important basic necessities for the people. It is part of Sabah’s three main challenges to tackle – electricity, water, and roads," said Masidi.

"The state government is committed to solving these issues and will not tolerate any form of power abuse in the chain of electricity supply," he said.

It is of utmost importance for power providers to remain efficient, transparent, and responsible, he added.

The National Integrity Plan has outlined values such as honesty, justice, and transparency to guide government operations and are essential in the fight against corruption, said Masidi.

He believes the SESB will carry out their responsibilities with full dedication and transparency, especially with the Corruption-Free pledge made.

"I am also told that the SESB has completed its SESB Anti-Corruption Plan Book 2021-2025, which will be used as the basis for SESB’s operations during this period," he said.

Masidi hopes that the SESB will carry out their duties with diligence and trustworthiness, and work with both the state and federal governments to combat corrupt practices.
