Subsidised diesel available for 33 types of vehicles

PETALING JAYA: A total of 33 types of public transportation and goods vehicles will continue to enjoy subsidised diesel through the use of fleet cards under the Subsidised Diesel Regulation System Pilot Project (SKDS), says Domestic Trade and Cost of Living Minister Datuk Armizan Mohd Ali.

He said public transport and goods companies that have obtained approval under the SKDS but have yet to receive their fleet cards from the fuel stations should keep their receipts starting today.

“This is to enable cash rebate claims to be made to the Finance Ministry in accordance with the application procedures that will be announced later,” he said in a statement yesterday.

The government had previously outlined an improvement to the SKDS initiative to properly manage and monitor the subsidised diesel scheme with the cooperation of fuel stations using the fleet card.

Under the fleet card system, the government would have a proper record of logistics companies’ usage trends.

Armizan also urged eligible transport companies that have not applied for diesel subsidy approval to do so immediately via the link https://mysubsidi.kpdn.gov.my and subsequently apply for fleet cards from their preferred oil companies.

“We would like to emphasise that all existing directives and regulations related to the sale of diesel remain in force and applicable amid the announcement of this new diesel price.”

Yesterday, the government announced that diesel prices will be floated and will retail at RM3.35 per litre in the peninsula from today.

This is based on the Automatic Pricing Mechanism formula for the month of May. The previous price of diesel announced on June 5 was RM2.15 per litre, which will be maintained for Sabah, Sarawak and Labuan.
