Three Pulau Tikus cops under probe after 'bundle of money' found on policeman

GEORGE TOWN: Three policemen from the Pulau Tikus police station are being investigated by Bukit Aman for alleged misconduct after a policeman was found carrying a "bundle of money".

George Town OCPD Asst Comm Razlam Ab Hamid said the trio are being investigated by Bukit Aman's integrity and standards compliance department (JIPS).

The issue surfaced after a Telegram group revealed that Bukit Aman JIPS conducted checks at the Pulau Tikus police station task force room last Friday.

An inspection found a bundle of notes amounting to RM500 inside a sling bag a policeman was carrying.

The team was inspecting the station compound when another corporal tried to speed off on his motorcycle.

When the team stopped him, he was unable to produce his identity document and licence.

The team found a total of RM1,903 in the sling bag he was carrying.

Both policemen failed to explain where they obtained the money.

Another policeman, a lance corporal, also tested positive for methamphetamine.

It is learnt that investigation papers have been opened against all three policemen.
