PETALING JAYA: Eligible logistics vehicle owners who have received approvals under the Subsidised Diesel Control System (SKDS) 2.0 programme but have yet to receive their fleet card can apply for reimbursements beginning July 1, says the Finance Ministry.
In a statement on Wednesday (June 12), the ministry said those affected can do so through the Budi Madani portal at https://budimadani.gov.my.
It said those involved have to retain their diesel purchase receipts for audit purposes.
“To be eligible for the refunds, logistics vehicle owners would have to apply and receive the Domestic Trade and Cost of Living Ministry’s approval under the SKDS 2.0 by June 30,” said the Finance Ministry.
It explained that the mechanism is a temporary facility to reimburse the difference between diesel fuel’s new retail price of RM3.35 a litre and the SKDS 2.0 price of RM2.15 a litre.
The Finance Ministry said the interim reimbursement mechanism is intended to cover additional expenditures incurred until the fleet card is received, up to a maximum of two months, whichever is earlier.
The government, it said, also urged eligible logistics vehicle owners that have yet to apply for fleet cards under SKDS 2.0 to do so at https://mysubsidi.kpdn.gov.my.
In the same statement, Finance Minister II Datuk Seri Amir Hamzah also said there is no reason for logistic businesses to raise prices and consequently burden the rakyat, given the implementation of SKDS 2.0.
He said the government will continue to monitor the logistics sector’s development.
“The refunds are a temporary measure setup by the government to assist logistics service providers from being affected by the change in diesel retail prices,” he said.
The implementation of rationalised diesel subsidies in the peninsula began on Monday (June 10).
This saw diesel prices floated and retailing at RM3.35.
Sabah, Sarawak and Labuan however are currently exempted from the move.
