NIBONG TEBAL: Former teacher Dr Joohari Ariffin (pic)is the unity government's candidate for the state seat of Sungai Bakap.
Joohari, 60, was announced as the candidate by PKR deputy president and party election director Rafizi Ramli at Simpang Empat on Wednesday (Jun 12).
Joohari holds a PhD from Universiti Sains Malaysia and is the director of Institut Aminuddin Baki (northern branch).
He has worked closely with Education Minister Fadhlina Sidek, Nibong Tebal MP, handling parliamentary and party matters.
The night featured national and state unity government and party leaders giving speeches before the announcement.
The Sungai Bakap seat fell vacant after the death of assemblyman and Nibong Tebal PAS chief Nur Zamri Latiff on May 24.
