Zayn Rayyan’s murder: Parents to be charged today, says lawyer


PETALING JAYA: The parents of autistic child Zayn Rayyan Abdul Matiin, who was found dead last year, will be charged in court here on Thursday (June 13).

This was confirmed by lawyer Fahmi Abd Moin who represented the boy's father when contacted by the press.

"I can only confirm that the couple will be charged today.

"With regards to the offence, I am unable to say because (I) need to meet with the Deputy Public Prosecutor first," he said.

As of 8am, newsmen have gathered around the court complex here in anticipation of the couple being charged as their remand ends today.

Several individuals, believed to be family members of the couple, were seen around the courthouse.

On Dec 5 last year, six-year-old Zayn Rayyan was reported missing in Damansara Damai. His body was found near a stream about 200m from his home at the Idaman Apartment complex the next day.

A post-mortem revealed injuries to his neck and body, leading to the conclusion that he had been killed.

On Monday (June 10), Zayn Rayyan’s mother was brought to her home at Idaman Apartment in Damansara Damai to re-enact the incident before the boy’s disappearance.

Previously, Selangor police chief Datuk Hussein Omar Khan said that the re-enactment was one of the procedures necessary to complete the investigation before the case was presented to the deputy public procedure for further action.
