Fans reminded not to buy fake jerseys

JOHOR BARU: With two major international football tournaments kicking off soon, Johor Domestic Trade and Cost of Living Ministry (KPDN) is reminding local football fans to avoid buying fake football related merchandise, especially team jerseys.

Its director Lilis Saslinda Pornomo said the ministry was working closely with trademark owners to ensure that football jerseys and other related merchandise in the market were authentic.

She added that fake goods would usually be sold in the local market during major international sporting events such as the upcoming UEFA Euro 2024 and Copa America 2024 football tournaments.

“Normally ... we will also bring the copyright owners because they will know whether the items being sold are authentic or fake.

“Once the ministry receives information from the copyright owners, we will carry out an investigation before launching an operation to take action against those selling counterfeit goods,” the Johor KPDN director said.
