IT appears that Taiwanese star Show Lo (pic) has experienced a reversal of fortune after he was spotted wearing luxury watches worth nearly NT$160mil (RM23.3mil) in the past year, reported China Press.

Eagle-eyed netizens zoomed in on one of the singer-actor’s recent Instagram photos and found a Richard Mille RM035-03 Rafael Nadal worth NT$18mil (RM2.59mil) on his wrist.

This sent them scouring other photos of the 44-year-old. They also caught him wearing two limited-edition timepieces: a Richard Mille RM 88 Smiley worth NT$40mil (RM5.82mil) and a Richard Mille Tourbillion Bubba Watson worth NT$32mil (RM4.66mil).

The most expensive watch spotted on his wrist was a Richard Mille RM 011 10th Anniversary Felipe Masse, which costs a whopping NT$65mil (RM9.4mil).

Many speculated that the array of luxury watches indicated that Lo had made a lucrative comeback to the music scene.

In 2020, Lo’s then girlfriend Grace Chow publicly accused him of cheating on her with a string of female artistes under his wing.

Lo issued several public apologies for his behaviour and made attempts to win her back but to no avail.

The scandal reportedly caused him losses amounting to some NT$600mil (RM87mil) in axed endorsement deals, and to be removed as the longtime host of variety show 100% Entertainment.

He went on a hiatus soon after before formally returning in 2022.

He was later quoted as saying: “My mistakes in relationships do not mean I am a problematic person, or that I have a character flaw. It just means I failed in my relationships.”

> Hong Kong crooner Jacky Cheung was hailed as a hero by fans from mainland China after he was believed to have described Taiwan as “our China” during his concert there, the daily also reported.

Fans were moved to tears by the 62-year-old’s powerful renditions on June 16 – the final date of the Taiwan leg of his 60+ Concert Tour – despite having just recovered from a respiratory infection.

During a segment of the gig Cheung spoke about places he had travelled to. “I have been to many places in the world. For example, the United States and our China”.

Many took Cheung’s words to mean that he saw Taiwan as part of “our China” and were overjoyed.

Fans from the mainland praised Cheung for his “courage” in making the statement in Taiwan.
