Man in wife assault case remanded


PORT DICKSON: A man captured in a video clip assaulting his wife at a hotel after he was allegedly caught cheating on her has been remanded for four days.

Magistrate Uthman Abd Gani signed the order following an application by the police.

The court ordered that the 37-year-old suspect be remanded until June 24 to assist in the probe.

On Thursday, Port Dickson police chief Supt Aidi Sham Mohamed said an investigation on domestic violence had begun after the man was seen on the brief clip assaulting the 38-year-old woman.

He said preliminary investigations found that the incident happened around 9.50am on May 24.

The wife, he said, suffered body aches and injuries on her cheeks.

The case is being investigated under Section 18A of the Domestic Violence Act and Section 323 of the Penal Code for intentionally causing harm.
