Driver killed, two women, seven-month-old baby injured in Melaka car crash


ALOR GAJAH: A man was killed, while two women and a seven-month-old baby girl were injured in a two-car crash on the Alor Gajah-Melaka Tengah-Jasin highway, Rembia here on Sunday Night (June 23).

Alor Gajah district police chief Supt Ashari Abu Samah said the police received information from the public about a collision involving two sedans at 7.07 pm.

"Preliminary investigations found that one of the cars was heading from Melaka to Alor Gajah while the other was heading in the opposite direction when the former entered the opposite lane and collided with the latter,” he said in a statement here on Sunday.

Factory operator Mohammad Ariffin Abdullah Thani, 33, who was driving the car heading to Alor Gajah, died of severe head injuries while being treated at Alor Gajah Hospital at 9.07 pm, he said.

The female driver of the other car, 30, and her seven-month-old daughter were seriously injured, while another passenger, a woman, 24, sustained injuries in several areas of her body, he said, adding that they were being treated at the Melaka Hospital. – Bernama
