Man suffers heart attack while driving in Jempol, dies in health clinic


JEMPOL: A 40-year-old man who suffered a heart attack while driving along Jalan Besar Felda Palong and subsequently crashed his car, died during treatment at a government health clinic here.

District police chief Supt Hoo Chang Hook said the deceased was heading to Palong 3 for work with three colleagues when the incident happened around 7am on Monday (June 24).

"Preliminary investigations revealed that the deceased suffered a heart attack and crashed along the road embankment on the right side of the road.

"He was then rushed to the Palong health clinic but died around 8.30am," he said in a statement.

Supt Hoo urged eyewitnesses to contact investigating officer Insp Muhammad Imran Sharwandy Suwandi Yazid at 012 643 4489 to assist in investigations.

In another accident, Supt Hoo said a 69-year-old cyclist was killed after a motorcyclist crashed into her while she was crossing the road at KM5 of Jalan Bahau-Kemayan.

He said the 27-year-old motorcyclist was heading towards Kemayan from Bahau when he crashed into the cyclist around 6.10am.

"The cyclist, who suffered severe head injuries and broke her right leg, died on the spot while the motorcyclist suffered light injuries and was taken to the hospital," he said.

The case is being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.

He urged eyewitnesses to contact investigating officer Insp Mohd Amirul Syafiq Mohd Yusof at 016 234 8669 to assist in investigations.
