Suspect shot and wounded after ramming cop cars in escape bid

HULU SELANGOR: A man who drove his car into two police vehicles in an attempt to escape was injured after shots were fired to stop him.

The incident occurred on Friday (June 21) when a police team tailed a suspicious person to a food stall in Serendah.

"There, policemen blocked the suspect's vehicle with two cars," Hulu Selangor OCPD Supt Ahmad Faizal Tahrim said in a statement on Monday (June 24).

"The suspect then drove into their cars, endangering the lives of the policemen.

"Shots were fired at the suspect's vehicle.

"Checks of the vehicle then found that the suspect had been injured by a shot to the stomach.

"He was brought to Hospital Selayang and is confirmed to be in stable condition," he added.

Supt Ahmad Faizal said the suspect had 14 prior criminal and drug-related offences, and a seven-day remand order on him had been granted until Friday (June 28).
