Cops arrest 20-year-old man for allegedly stabbing mother

JEMPOL: Police here have arrested a 20-year-old suspect for allegedly stabbing his mother.

Jempol police chief Supt Hoo Chang Hook said the suspect is the second of four siblings, and added that he allegedly stabbed the 48-year-old victim at her house in Felda Raja Alias near here around 1pm on June 22.

"The suspect lives in Kuala Lumpur and he went to the house with the victim's father on that day to visit her youngest son. After the victim's father stepped out of the house, an argument broke out between the suspect and the victim," he said.

"The suspect then dashed out of the house and drove away in the victim's father's car," added Supt Hoo.

Supt Hoo said the victim's father then rushed inside the house and saw her bleeding from a wound on her back.

"The victim was rushed to hospital and doctors confirmed she had suffered a 2.5cm deep wound," he said, adding that the victim had to be admitted for further treatment.

Supt Hoo said police detained the suspect around 2am on Tuesday (June 25) at a house in Taman Rasa Sayang Cheras in Kajang, Selangor.

He said based on preliminary investigations, the suspect has confessed to the crime.

"We are still probing the motive of the attack," he said, adding that the suspect will be in remand until Friday (June 28).
