Man detained for alleged murder of mom in Negri Sembilan gets seven-day remand


BAHAU: A 33-year-old man believed to be of unsound mind detained for the alleged murder of his mother has been remanded for seven days.

Jempol police chief Supt Hoo Chang Hook said magistrate Norshazwani Ishak signed the order after the suspect was brought to court on Tuesday (June 26).

"The suspect will be in remand till July 2 to assist in investigations," he said.

Police arrested the suspect who was the 63-year-old victim's oldest child at their home on Monday (June 25).

Earlier around noon, police had received a call about a quarrel between the suspect and the deceased.

When cops arrived, they found the deceased sprawled in the front yard.

He said a post-mortem will be carried out on the victim's remains on Tuesday to establish the cause of death.

The case is being investigated under Section 302 of the Penal Code for murder.
