THE “curse” of Jackie Chan strikes again after a Russian anti-virus software recently joined a growing list of banned products in the United States, Sin Chew Daily reported.
The 70-year-old movie star was dubbed the “brand name killer” after Kaspersky, an anti-virus software company he endorsed, was banned by the Bureau of Industry and Security for posing a risk to the United States’ national security.
Video advertisements featuring Chan wearing a helmet and fighting computer viruses and other malware became viral online following the announcement.
“Can’t do much even by wearing a helmet,” an amused fan quipped.
It was earlier reported that the “curse” stemmed as far back as the early 1990s when a Chinese-English language learning computer Chan endorsed went bankrupt.
Another notable incident was a shampoo brand he endorsed which was found to contain carcinogens in 2010.
> The daily also reported that king of Mandopop Jay Chou joked that his successful music career was the reason for failing to achieve his dream of becoming a tennis superstar.
The 45-year-old recently displayed his skills with a tennis racquet in a video on social media.
Known to play basketball and golf, Chou looked every bit the athlete while on the tennis court.
“Sometimes I wonder if it is too late for me to learn tennis?
“If I had started at a younger age, maybe what you see on TV would be me playing tennis rather than singing,” he quipped.
