KUALA LUMPUR: The 17th World Chinese Entrepreneurs Convention (WCEC) forum session to be held here from Sept 9 to 11 will focus on global issues and topics affecting the entrepreneurial sector, says Datuk Ng Yih Pyng.

The Associated Chinese Chambers of Commerce and Industry of Malaysia (ACCCIM) deputy president said the three-day convention aims to be a key platform for sharing ideas and discussions on advancements and progress among top Chinese entrepreneurs from around the world.

“The discussions will help us shape a better future with a greater understanding of what the future holds for us as entrepreneurs and the global economy,” he said in a press conference yesterday.

The convention’s theme, “Reimagineering the Future”, organised by ACCCIM, will feature 24 local and international experts at the event set to be held at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre.

The forum session will include key topics such as “Collaborative Reengineering: How you too can leverage on Malaysia’s ecosystem to take your dream global”, “Green and AI Economy: Innovation and Competitiveness” and “Fusing Tradition and Innovation: Paving the Future for Young Entrepreneurs”.

The speakers include top entrepreneurs, experts and senior government officers who will share their knowledge on business, technology, innovation, sustainable development and education.

Ng also said the convention is targeting 4,500 local and international participants and has so far received more than 2,800 registrations from abroad.

“For local participants, we are still waiting for confirmation from the respective chambers of commerce.

“We have also invited the National Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Malaysia, as the topics and issues discussed are of a global nature,” he added.

Investment, Trade and Industry Minister Tengku Datuk Seri Zafrul Abdul Aziz, Economy Minister Rafizi Ramli and Housing and Local Government Development Minister Nga Kor Ming were also listed as speakers in the forum sessions.

Ng said Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim is expected to deliver his keynote speech at the convention.

The WCEC convention committee head, Teoh Kok Lin, said the convention will discuss in-depth green technology and artificial intelligence (AI), the future of the semiconductor industry, as well as Chinese business and education, among other topics.

“We will address the global uncertainties, which are the top concern among entrepreneurs worldwide, in the forum and explore ways to improve global policies,” he said.

Teoh added that there are also forum sessions that will touch on using technology to give back to the community.

“The Chinese Business and Education” forum, featuring Sunsuria executive chairman Tan Sri Ter Leong Yap, will look into the success of the Malaysian Chinese community in producing multilingual talents with strong work ethics, which has made the country a magnet for foreign investors.

He also said the committee is working closely with government agencies to promote Malaysia, as the convention would also potentially attract more investors to the country.
