Agro Madani: Fama targeting RM2mil in sales in six states

JOHOR BARU: The Federal Agricultural Marketing Authority (Fama) is targeting sales of RM2mil through the Agro Madani Sales this year.

Its chairman Aminuddin Zulkipli said the sales target involves six permanent farmers' markets (PTK) located in six different states.

These markets include PTK Seberang Jaya (Penang), PTK Chini (Pahang), PTK Chukai (Terengganu), RTC Kelantan (Kelantan), PTK Datin Halimah (Johor) and PTK Changlun (Kedah).

"This year's Agro Madani programme is based upon previous successful initiatives held in various locations.

“We are confident that the combined sales from these six locations will hit the RM2mil mark," he said when met after the Agro Madani Sales launching ceremony at PTK Datin Halimah here on Friday (June 28).

He added that he is optimistic that the Agro Madani Sales at PTK Datin Halimah, running from today until Sunday, will successfully achieve the RM200,000 target.

Visitors can expect to find fresh produce at competitive prices during the carnival, with discounts ranging from 10% to 30%, he added.

“The initial response from visitors has been very positive, with queues forming for Madani combos even before the official launch.

“Attendance numbers have been steadily increasing since the introduction of these Agro Madani Sales last year.

Aminuddin also expressed his confidence that the Agro Madani Sales will continue in the future, due to the overwhelming support.

"Our target sales figure of RM2mil by the end of this year is within reach, and the positive response to Agro Madani indicates that this initiative may be extended based on its performance," said Aminuddin.

Special deals such as “happy hour” Madani combo sales, discounted chicken sales with 2,000kg available over the three-day event, and affordable seafood offerings, including ikan siakap priced at RM2 each, are also part of the attractions.

Aminuddin shared that the success of the Madani combo sales programme is due to the collaboration of producers who willingly offer reduced prices without the need for subsidies.
