JOHOR BARU: The Johor-Singapore Causeway, one of the busiest border crossings in the world, reached a major milestone as it turned a century old on Friday (June 28).
The historic moment was marked with a simple, yet significant ceremony that included the release of 100 doves to symbolise the Causeway's 100-year journey.

The ceremony, held at the "zero mark" of the Causeway separating Malaysia and Singapore, was witnessed by Johor Regent Tunku Ismail Sultan Ibrahim.
Also witnessing the ceremony was Johor Mentri Besar Datuk Onn Hafiz Ghazi and Singapore’s Minister for Foreign Affairs Vivian Balakrishnan.
The Causeway was officially opened on June 28, 1924, by the Federated Malay States high commissioner Sir Lawrence Guillermard and was witnessed by Johor Ruler Almarhum Sultan Sir Ibrahim Ibni Almarhum Sultan Sir Abu Bakar as well as other Malay Rulers.
