Video of girl seated on window sill of moving car goes viral, mum arrested


KAJANG: A 46-year-old woman was detained for allegedly endangering her daughter while driving at Bandar Tun Hussein Onn here.

Kajang OCPD Asst Comm Naazron Abdul Yusof said a police report was lodged at 11.15am on Friday (June 28) in connection with a 28-second video that went viral showing a girl seated on the front passenger window sill of a moving car.

"The incident occurred at about 1.15pm on June 21.

"Based on information gathered, we detained the mother at about 4.50pm on Friday while the vehicle used was seized to assist with the investigation," he said when contacted on Friday.

Further investigation revealed that the mother is blind in one eye while the eight-year-old daughter is also a disabled person (OKU), he said.

"We are investigating under Section 31(1)(a) of the Child Act 2001.

ACP Naazron advised parents and society not to do anything that could endanger children and other road users.

"We urge those with information on the incident to contact investigating officer Inspt Afiq Rifdi Mohd Azmi at 011-29667474 to assist with the investigation," he said.
