A MAN was assaulted and left to die in the middle of the road for stealing a motorbike, Makkal Osai reported.

Police, who were alerted to the dead body by the Vaangal village administrator in Tamil Nadu’s Karur city, said autopsy showed the man was beaten to death.

Investigation indicated that the 35-year-old man was a migrant worker from north India.

He was apparently passing by some shops and saw a motorbike which he decided to steal.

The bike’s owner Vinoth Kumar, who was having breakfast nearby, saw the theft and chased the man with the help of his friends.

They caught the thief and allegedly beat him to death.

Vinoth and another man were arrested. Police are now looking for three other men.
