MALAYSIAN singer-rapper Namewee paid homage to the Hong Kong gangster culture with the release of his new song Za Fit (Cantonese: In Power), reported China Press.
The music video features veteran actor Anthony Wong, best known for playing a thug in the Young and Dangerous Hong Kong movie series about a group of young triad members.
The lyrics to the song were written by Gene Lau, who also wrote the main theme for the anthology.
Wong portrays a triad boss in his sunset years trying his best to remain relevant in the modern world while Namewee plays a poor, struggling film director.
The music video includes a murder scene and another of a brawl between two rival gangs.
Namewee, 41, joked that filming the music video was a terrifying experience.
“I was afraid I would be beaten up midway through the song! I also feared being beaten up if I asked them to reshoot a scene! All of them have huge arms and I was terrified!” quipped the controversial artiste who is not averse to using provocative themes in his works.
> An elderly man in China’s Sichuan province died and three of his family members remained in critical condition after they ate poisonous fungi by mistake, the daily also reported.
On June 19, university student Xiao Peng went foraging for mushrooms with his mother and younger brother.
They mistook the fungi for an edible variety of Amanita.
That afternoon, Xiao Peng’s 69-year-old grandfather visited and the family cooked the mushrooms for dinner.
The next morning, Xiao Peng’s parents, brother and grandfather fell severely ill and were rushed to hospital. Several days later, Xiao Peng’s grandfather died.
Doctors diagnosed all of them with mushroom poisoning.
According to the Yunnan Centre for Disease Control, even though some Amanita mushrooms are edible, 90% of deaths from mushroom poisoning were caused by consuming the poisonous kind.
