Anwar leads Kedah Sultan's birthday honours recipients


ALOR SETAR: Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim has led the list of 238 recipients of honours and awards in conjunction with the 82nd Birthday Celebration of the Sultan of Kedah, Sultan Sallehuddin Sultan Badlishah, on Sunday (May 28).

Anwar was awarded the Darjah Seri Setia Sultan Sallehuddin Kedah Yang Amat Dihormati (SSSK) at the ceremony held at the Balairung Seri Besar, Istana Anak Bukit.

Sultan Sallehuddin also awarded the Panglima Angkatan Tentera Malaysia, General Tan Sri Mohammad Ab Rahman, with the Darjah Datuk Seri Setia Pahlawan Yang Amat Dihormati (SSPK).

He conferred the Darjah Gemilang Wira Mahkota Kedah Yang Amat Dihormati (DGWK) to Kedah State Financial Officer Datuk Syed Khairol Anuar Syed Abidin; Army Chief General Tan Sri Muhammad Hafizuddeain Jantan; and Health Ministry Director-General, Datuk Dr Muhammad Radzi Abu Hassan.

The Exco for Education, Religion, Communications and Information Mohd Azam Abd Samat; AFK Group CEO Tan Sri Dr Azmil Khalili Khalid and Colonel (R) Datuk Mohd Aros Bin Othman received the Darjah Dato' Setia Sultan Sallehuddin Kedah (DSSS), which carries the title Datuk.

Among the nine recipients of the Darjah Datuk Setia Diraja Kedah (DSDK), which also carries the title Datuk, were Kota Setar District Officer, Hakim Ariff Md Noor; Kedah Deputy State Secretary (Management) Dr Nadzman Mustaffa; and Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment Secretary-General, Datuk Dr Ching Thoo Kim.

Other recipients of the DSDK included Universiti Utara Malaysia (UUM) Vice-Chancellor, Professor Dr Mohd Foad Sakdan; UUM Holdings Sdn Bhd chairman Mohd Zuhri Abdullah; Medical Director of Abdul Razak Eye Specialist Clinic Dr Abdul Razak KV Koyakutty; and Kedah Pondok Teachers Council chairman Abdullah Lebai Samah.

Also awarded the DSDK were Yiked Bina and Tanjung Digital director Mohd Azam Saad and Kedah Chinese Chamber of Commerce and Industry president Ang Saik Cheong.

Sultan Sallehuddin also conferred the Darjah Datuk Setia Pahlawan (DDSP), which carries the title Datuk to four recipients including Armed Forces Veterans Affairs Department Director-General, Major General Zambery Darus; Defence Logistics Staff Assistant Chief Major General Abdul Aziz Abu Hassan; Sixth Infantry Brigade Commander Brigadier General Saipol Anuar Jaafar and Kedah Police Chief Datuk Fisol Salleh.

He also awarded the Setia Diraja Kedah (SDK) to 13 recipients, including Padang Terap District Officer Azmin Zainol Abidin; Pokok Sena District Officer Mohamad Rizal Mohamad Radzi; Sultanah Bahiyah Hospital Director, Dr Fauziah Abdul Wahab; Higher Education Ministry Secretary, Datin Noorazah Omar; and Kedah State Health Department deputy director Dr Norizan Ahmad.

Other SDK recipients include Sultanah Bahiyah Hospital senior consultant paediatrician Dr N. Thiyagar; Sultan Abdul Halim Hospital senior consultant obstetrician and gynecologist Dr K. Sushilanathan; Royal Malaysia Police Headquarters Integrity and Standard Compliance Department Assistant Director (Compliance), Senior Assistant Commissioner Ahmad Shukri Mat Akhir; and Kedah Tenaga Nasional Berhad general manager Wan Ishak Soed.

Honorary Secretary of the Kedah Welfare Council, Faridah Ahmad; Heera Trading and Management Consultancy Plt Advisor, Lieutenant Colonel (R) Heera Singh Tara Singh; Kedah Chinese Assembly Hall Secretary, Pang Hu Kong; and Fox Custom Tailor Sdn Bhd General Manager, Chau Tai Chuon, also received the SDK.

Sultan Sallehuddin also conferred honours and medals to 32 recipients of the Ahli Mahkota Kedah (AMK); 11 recipients of the Ahli Setia Pahlawan (ASP); 15 recipients of the Bintang Perkhidmatan Cemerlang Kedah (BCK); and 52 recipients of the Bintang Kebaktian Masyarakat (BKM).

He also awarded the Ahli Cemerlang Semangat Jerai Kedah (ASK) to 20 recipients; Pingat Perkhidmatan Cemerlang Kedah (PCK) to 35 recipients; Pingat Jasa Kebaktian (PJK) to 19 recipients; and Pingat Perkhidmatan Lama (PPL) to 20 recipients.
