Two Chinese tourists killed in Genting crash


PETALING JAYA: A tour bus carrying 21 people overturned while descending from Genting Highlands, killing two Chinese nationals on board.

Pahang Fire and Rescue Department director Datuk Dr Wan Mohamad Zaidi Wan Isa said both male victims suffered head injuries in the 11am incident yesterday, reported Bernama.

“Their bodies were sent to Hospital Bentong, Pahang,” he said, adding that the 21 people on board included 18 Chinese, the bus driver and two tour guides.

Earlier, a 21-second video of the accident went viral, showing several emergency responders already at the scene.

Genting Malaysia Bhd said the bus, owned by a third-party operator, was carrying 18 tourists from Yunnan, China, and descending from Genting Highlands.

“Our deepest condolences go out to the families and friends of the deceased.

We wish a swift and full recovery to those injured.

“We will provide further updates as more information becomes available,” the company said in a statement.
