Sungai Bakap polls: Not true that Nor Zamri never raised water issues, says Abidin Ismail to DAP leaders

NIBONG TEBAL: Perikatan Nasional candidate Abidin Ismail has denied accusations from DAP leaders that the late Nor Zamri Latiff never raised the issue of water cuts in the constituency during state legislative sittings.

Abidin said as a special officer to the former Sungai Bakap assemblyman, it was his responsibility to prepare questions and speeches for the latter.

"I was the one who did the speech and prepared the questions for him to ask during the state assembly last year," said Abidin.

He invited Nor Zamri’s accusers to check the latter’s TikTok account for the video clips he had uploaded about the water shortage issue.

Abidin, who debuted as an election candidate for the Sungai Bakap by-election, said the water shortage issues in the constituency were important as it has plagued the people for six years now.

He said as a good opposition lawmaker, Nor Zamri had done his duty as a check and balance to the ruling government.

Pakatan Harapan lawmaker RSN Rayer has alleged during his ceramah at Sungai Bakap that Nor Zamri has never brought up water issues during the state assembly sessions.

Rayer had said he had never read any newspaper reports or seen video recordings of debates by the former PAS representative on this issue before.

He challenged any Perikatan leader to present any evidence that the former Sungai Bakap assemblyman had ever debated the water issues through newspaper reports or videos.

He also questions whether Perikatan leaders can be trusted to carry out their duties as assemblymen.

Meanwhile updating on the progress of his campaign, Abidin said the response so far from Sungai Bakap voters has been encouraging.

He felt the response not only from Malay voters but from other races too.
