KOTA KINABALU: Kampung Sembulan Lama villagers took matters into their own hands when they caught a baby crocodile in a river here on Wednesday morning (July 3).
The one-metre-long reptile was later handed over to the Civil Defence Force.
Kota Kinabalu Civil Defence Force officer Captain Aizex Junior said the District Operations Control Centre received a call about the crocodile sighting at 6:49am, adding that a team of four men, led by Lieutenant M Nurfarizt Izwan, responded.
“Villagers had already caught the seven kilogrammes baby crocodile in the Sembulan River before being handed over to the defence force members," he said.
The operation was called off at 7.30am.
The crocodile has been handed over to the Sabah Wildlife Department for further action.
