MALAYSIAN actor Hero Tai (pic) had a harrowing experience when his infant daughter was nearly driven away by an e-hailing driver, China Press reported.
The incident happened in Taiwan when Tai was getting out of his Uber ride and unfolding his daughter’s pram.
Before Tai could pick up his daughter Karina, the Uber driver drove away with one of the passenger doors still fully open.
“I was so shocked. The driver wasn’t paying attention to what was happening behind him at all. It was terrifying,” Tai said.
He managed to pick up his daughter before chiding the driver for his carelessness.
“Don’t challenge a father’s resolve in protecting his children,” he said.
Tai later lodged a report with Uber over the driver’s behaviour.
It was previously reported that Tai’s father and father-in-law had questioned him and his wife about their parenting style after allowing their daughter, who is only six months old, to use a smartphone.
Tai and Ukrainian model Tatiana Lin registered their marriage in Malaysia in September 2023.
Tai, who originally hails from Perak, is well-known for his roles in Kepong Gangster, The Perfect Girl and Tears of the Mom.
> China superstar Zhang Ziyi appeared upset that her screen time in her upcoming movie She’s Got No Name had been cut short, reported China Press.
When asked recently about her future plans, the 45-year-old stated that strong female characters were lacking in Chinese films.
When asked if her character in the film, Zhan Zhoushi, was a strong female role model, Zhang replied: “When I played her, I felt she was strong enough.”
Her reply sparked speculation that she was upset that some scenes she filmed were cut from the upcoming theatrical release.
It was also rumoured that she was unhappy that the male lead, Lei Jiayin, had more screen time than her.
Zhang portrays Zhan Zhoushi, a woman in Shanghai who was sentenced to death for killing her husband and chopping his body into 16 pieces.
But it later came to light that Zhoushi had endured repeated beatings and rapes during her marriage. Unable to take the violence anymore, she killed her husband in his sleep in March 1945.
Newspaper articles about Zhoushi’s story, published with the help of female journalists, sparked a wave of public support.
Zhang’s sentence was ultimately reduced to 15 years in jail.
