Nine arrested in connection with Euro Cup gambling


SUBANG: Nine individuals have been arrested in connection with illegal gambling related to the Euro 2024 competition.

Subang Jaya OCPD Asst Comm Wan Azlan Wan Mamat said the suspects, aged 19 to 35, following eight raids in the district since June 14 in an operation codenamed "Ops Soga".

"We also seized nine mobile phones," he said in a statement on Wednesday (July 3).

The latest arrest was of a 19-year-old man at about 12:50am on Wednesday at a cafe in Bandar Sunway.

"We seized his mobile phone as there are records of bets on the Euro football matches.

"He has been remanded until Friday (July 5)," he said.

ACP Wan Azlan said the public should not be involved in illegal gambling.

"We also urge those with information on criminal activities and illegal gambling to contact Subang Jaya police at 03-78627222.

"The anonymity of those who give information will be protected," he said.
