SHAH ALAM: Useable seats from the Shah Alam Stadium will be offered for free to local authorities (PBT) and district offices in the state, says Ahmad Azri Zainal Nor.

The social responsibility and corporate communications chief at Mentri Besar Selangor Inc (MBI) told Malay language daily Sinar Harian that the seats can be installed at district stadiums or pavilions in district fields.

"During the demolition works of Shah Alam Stadium, some have asked what will happen to its seats.

"All these seats will be dismantled and separated; the damaged ones will be disposed of, while the good ones will be stored," he was quoted as saying in a statement Wednesday (July 3) by Sinar Harian.

Ahmad Azri also suggested offering the seats to schools, especially those with pavilions, in the state.

The demolition process of Shah Alam Stadium, which began on Monday (July 1), is expected to take a year.

Two hydraulic breaker machines will be used in a conventional method without explosives to avoid noise, dust, and water disturbance to residents.

MBI expects the building’s roof to be removed by the end of this month or early August.

Previously, MBI announced that the development of the Shah Alam Sports Complex (KSSA), which involves three phases, is expected to be fully completed by 2029.

The first phase, involving the demolition and reconstruction of Shah Alam Stadium, is expected to be completed by December 2026.

The second phase, scheduled to begin in January 2027, involves a closed theatre, youth and sports wing, and recreation area.

The final phase involves the construction of an integrated terminal and hotel, expected to start between January 2028 and December 2029.
