Heads of govt departments, agencies told to address pressing issues quickly, efficiently, says Sabah CM

KOTA KINABALU: Heads of departments and government agencies have been told to solve issues at hand including flooding and those involving the Palau or Bajau Laut communities swiftly and efficiently, says Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor.

The Sabah Chief Minister said these matters, and other pressing issues, must be dealt with professionally and quickly.

“We do not want issues to grow bigger and affect the state and country’s image globally,” he said in a statement after chairing the state Security Council meeting here, Thursday (July 4).

Parts of Sabah were hit with severe flooding on June 30, while recently, there have also been reports of squatter home demolitions on state land and marine parks, causing an uproar among activists.

During the meeting, Hajiji also touched on various current issues relating to Sabah.

Also present were State Secretary Datuk Seri Safar Untong, Sabah Federal Secretary Datuk Makhzan Mahyuddin, Sabah Police Commissioner Datuk Jauteh Dikun, State Security Council director Datuk Noor Alam Khan A Wahid Khan and other departmental heads.

On other matters, parties like Warisan and Parti Impian Sabah have also called for the state to prioritise flood mitigation projects and initiatives following the June 30 flood which hit various districts including Penampang, Tamparuli, Tuaran, Menggatal and Inanam.
