Medical undergrad expelled after punching professor

DESPITE having completed his studies, an undergraduate was expelled from a university in China after he punched a professor during his convocation ceremony, reported Sin Chew Daily.

The incident happened on June 19 at Fudan University, one of the top universities in Shanghai, when the student, whose surname was Xia, walked onto the stage to receive his scroll.

Footage of the incident showed Xia, without even thanking the professor who presented him with the scroll, punching him and causing his glasses and mortarboard to fall to the ground.

Xia then walked off the stage.

The university released a statement saying that Xia had been expelled for assaulting a teacher and for tarnishing the university’s image.

They added that they will be cooperating with the police on the matter and will let the law take its course.

It was also reported that renowned Peking University has also revoked Xia’s admission as a master’s degree student in medicine, saying that they will not accept candidates who break the law.
