PETALING JAYA: A rescue mission to save a baby elephant which had fallen into a drain has touched the hearts of many.

This happened last Sunday in Kelantan where eight officers from the Department of Wildlife and National Parks (Perhilitan) used an excavator to hoist the baby elephant out of the drain.

Its mother was seen waiting patiently next to the drain, which is located at Batu 13 Jalan Timur-Barat, Jeli.

Both mother and child were soon reunited.

Wildlife officers later guided them back into the nearby forested area.

A brief recording of the incident was uploaded on Perhilitan’s Facebook, leading to comments from netizens who praised the officers for their good work.
