Firemen rescue six-year-old girl stuck on escalator in Likas

KOTA KINABALU: Firemen were sent to a hypermarket in Likas after a six-year-old girl accidentally got her hand stuck in an escalator on Friday (June 27).

The team received the report at 7.50pm and used special tools to extract her hand from the mobile stairs.

"She was given preliminary treatment by emergency responders for her injury and then taken to the hospital for further treatment.

"The operation ended at 8.10pm," said a Fire and Rescue Department spokesman.

In a separate incident in Papar earlier, a team responded to a call about a locked car with a two-year-old boy inside.

After receiving the call at 11.20am, a team from the Papar fire station responded and opened the door of the locked SUV using special tools.

"After ensuring the boy was safe and sound, the operation ended at 11.39am," the spokesman added.
