A LIFE-size figure wrapped in white cloth placed in the bushes on a hillside caused an elderly man to lose control of his car.

He was so shocked to see the figure, which resembled a “pocong” (shrouded ghost), that it triggered an asthma attack, China Press reported.

According to posts and photos on the “Kluang Hari Ini” community page on Facebook, the figure was found on a hillside along the road to the west area of Kahang in Kluang, Johor, about 15m from an intersection.

The post also called on members of the public to help remove the figure to prevent similar accidents from happening again.

In the comments, some users claimed that they saw the figure a few days ago and believed it was placed there by a durian orchard owner to scare off intruders.

> The daily also reported a heartwarming encounter of a man helping a troubled man fill up his car’s petrol tank.

Quoting Malay portal mStar, it said the man, Muhammad Abu Hurairah Roslan, had stopped at a petrol station at night where he overheard a Chinese man at the counter.

“He said he only had RM3 in cash and asked to fuel up another RM10 from his debit card, while looking miserable and sweaty.

“The cashier tried several times but failed.

“Feeling despondent, the man left after paying RM3.

“I could not stand seeing it and I went out looking for him.”

Abu Hurairah said he had then immediately approached the man and offered to help, much to the latter’s surprise.

He said the man told him that he had not received his salary and had to rush back to Tanjong Malim.

“He also apologised for the trouble and refused my help because he felt it was his mistake,” said Abu Hurairah, who insisted on accompanying the man to the pump and directly paying with his own card to fully refuel the man’s vehicle.

“He cried and repeatedly thanked me, asking for my phone number so he could pay me back once he received his salary.

“I patted his back and comforted him.”

The man told Abu Hurairah that he had previously tried to ask his friends for help but no one was willing to assist him.

“I’m so glad I was there to see him smiling.

“Even my own worries earlier are now gone,” he said, adding that they also exchanged contacts.
