Bung Moktar calls for Sabah AG to review state's 'one-sided' agreements

KOTA KINABALU: Datuk Bung Moktar Radin (Umno-Lamag) has called on the newly appointed Sabah Attorney General Datuk Brenndon Keith Soh to review one-sided agreements that do not benefit the state.

The Sabah Umno chief urged the state AG to review biased agreements involving not just water privatisation but also in other development sectors such as roads.

"Sabah's non-revenue water is at 61.5%. What are the Gabungan Rakyat Sabah (GRS) government's efforts in planning and managing the water crisis?

"I hope the new AG will be bold enough in upholding justice for Sabah and its people," he said at the Sabah Legislative Assembly sitting on Tuesday (July 9)

The former deputy chief minister and state works minister said the state should have one agency responsible for each sector, such as road maintenance, to avoid confusion and ensure accountability.

Bung Moktar once again raised the appointment of state Secretary Datuk Seri Safar Untong to key positions in government-linked companies.

"He (Safar) has retired. Why was his tenure (as state Secretary) extended?... new people should be given opportunities to lead," he said.

It is learnt that Safar's appointment was extended till the end of the year.
