Disciplinary teacher claims trial for assaulting student in Melaka


MELAKA: A 48-year-old disciplinary teacher claimed trial for an alleged offence of slapping and pulling the hair of a male student at the Magistrate's Court in Ayer Keroh here.

The plea of Mohd Heirman Ishak was recorded before Magistrate Khairunnisak Hassni on Tuesday (July 9).

Based on the charge sheet, the accused had intentionally caused injury to a 17-year-old student by slapping the latter's face multiple times and pulling his hair.

The alleged assault took place in a teacher's room at a secondary school in Bukit Baru at about 11.3Oam on December 19, 2022.

The charge was framed under Section 323 of the Penal Code which provides for imprisonment of up to one year, or a fine of up to RM2,000, or both, upon conviction.

Deputy Public Prosecutor Fiqri Hakim Zamri prosecuted while the accused was represented by lawyer Nor Azri Mohd Arif.

The court granted bail of RM2,000 with one surety and set an additional condition where the accused shouldn't disturb the victim as he is a prosecution witness.

The court fixed August 22 for case mention.
