Dr Wee submits list of failed matriculation appeals to PM, hopes for good news on placements

PETALING JAYA: The list of names of matriculation applicants who failed in their appeals to be admitted to the programme has been submitted to Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, says Datuk Seri Dr Wee Ka Siong.

The Ayer Hitam MP said that MCA Youth education bureau chief Ong Chee Siang had handed him the list in Parliament's lobby on Tuesday (July 9) morning.

Dr Wee said he had then submitted the list to Anwar after Prime Minister's Question Time in the Dewan Rakyat and hoped to receive good news on placements soon.

"MCA Youth branches have been compiling the list of unsuccessful applicants since the results of the appeals were announced last Friday (July 5)," the MCA president said in a Facebook post Tuesday.

Dr Wee said that of the 151 students who failed in their appeals to be admitted to the matriculation programme, 74 qualified for matriculation due to getting straight As.

He said 65 students had scored more than 10As with seven scoring a full 11As.

"53 students scored a full 10As, while there were five who took 11 subjects but scored 10As. There were also nine students who got full 9As," he said.

Dr Wee added that the list, compiled by the MCA Youth secretariat, was finalised at 8.30am on Tuesday.

He ended his post by thanking the Prime Minister.
