IPOH: A p-hailing delivery rider was killed after another motorcycle crashed into his at Jalan Perpaduan here.

Ipoh OCPD Asst Comm Abang Zainal Abidin Abang Ahmad said the 26-year-old was pronounced dead on the spot on Wednesday (July 10) at about 6.30pm.

ACP Abang Zainal Abidin said the p-hailing rider was exiting a junction to make a right turn before another motorcycle crashed into the side of the vehicle.

"Both the rider and the other motorcyclist, 16, lost control of their vehicles and fell down onto the road.

"The rider suffered serious injuries to his head and was confirmed to have died on the spot," he said in a statement on Thursday (July 11).

"The deceased and the teenager were sent to the Raja Permaisuri Bainun Hospital for post mortem and treatment, respectively," he added.

ACP Abang Zainal Abidin said the case would be investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act for reckless driving causing death.

"The police would like to urge witnesses of the accident to come forward to the nearest police station or contact investigating officer Insp Edwin Tang Chiew Song on 016-550 6863 to help with the investigations.

"The public is also advised to be mindful and to adhere to the traffic rules to ensure the safety of themselves and other motorists," he added.
