A 10-year-old boy from Kampung Salang in Pulau Tioman has impressed TikTok users with his boat-steering skills, Harian Metro reported.
A video of Armin Jamaludin, a pupil from SK Tekek, confidently steering his father’s boat in his school uniform garnered much admiration online.
The boy’s father Jamaludin Musa said the video was taken while he was on his way to send Armin and his sister, Aida Izabella, seven, to school.
“Every day, we use a motorcycle to get to the jetty, then take a boat to another point where we switch back to the motorcycle to get to school.
“The journey takes about 10 minutes by boat in good weather and up to 30 minutes in less favourable conditions,” he said.
Although there are dormitory facilities for Pulau Tioman students, Jamaludin and his wife, Rozalia Bodi, prefer their children stay at home.
“At home, we can monitor their studies and activities.
“Despite the high cost of commuting by boat, we consider it a necessary sacrifice,” he said.
Jamaludin, a scuba diver and instructor, posted the video for fun, showcasing island life and expressing his desire for his children to have maritime knowledge.

“The hospital conducted an ECG (electrocardiogram) test and found he had suffered a heart attack,” she said.
Ali was then admitted for further treatment.
Sharifah Azuwanna said they were in Ipoh to seek Islamic medical treatment for her husband.
Ali’s health problems began in August 2022 when he collapsed and was rushed to Hospital Serdang, Selangor.
