Both brothers fell critically ill from consuming crackers believed to have been spiked with rat poison in Kampung Padang Ubi, Labu Besar, Kulim in Kedah last Sunday.

The elder brother Muhammad Akil Syauki, three, had previously succumbed on Thursday at 8.30am while undergoing treatment at Penang Hospital.

It was suspected that the crackers were placed on a steel fence built by a farmer to deter wildlife from threatening his crops.

The location was 50m from their house.
