Hajiji urges entrepreneurs to obtain halal certificate

KOTA KINABALU: Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor urges entrepreneurs to obtain the Halal Malaysia certificate through the Cottage Industry Halal Certificate (SHIK) initiative.

He said the certification could convince customers that the products were safe, act as a stamp of quality and appeal to a broader audience.

The Chief Minister said this in a speech delivered by state Science, Technology, and Innovation Minister Datuk Mohd Arifin Arif at the Sabah International Halal Expo (Sahex) 2024 at the Sabah International Convention Centre (SICC) here.

“I hope that the efforts by Sabah Islamic Religious Council to help small and medium enterprises (SMEs) in obtaining halal certification through the SHIK initiative will be extended statewide,” Hajiji said on Sunday (July 14).

He said the SHIK programme helps entrepreneurs without a specific facility or permanent factory to manufacture or process their products.
