PETALING JAYA: Four women graduated from Malaysia Airlines’ training academy this year and became its first Orang Asli cabin crew members.

The four were among the 56 cabin crew members who graduated after a three-month training programme and began serving on Malaysia Airlines’ flights on May 7 this year.

Malaysia Aviation Group (MAG) Group Managing Director Datuk Captain Izham Ismail said the group is proud to welcome the first batch of cabin crew from the Orang Asli community into the Malaysia Airlines family.

“This milestone reflects our ongoing commitment to promoting diversity and inclusion within our workforce, ensuring equal opportunities for all, regardless of their background,” said Izham in a statement on Sunday (July 14).

Izham said Malaysia Airlines’ training programme—which includes public speaking, grooming, first aid, hazardous material handling, hospitality, and aircraft familiarisation—ensures that all cabin crew receive the highest standards of service and hospitality.

“We are committed to enhancing the travel experience for our global passengers and ensuring they feel at home through the diverse perspective, warmth and hospitality that shape our workforce,” said Izham.

The four were Amisyha A/P Nurshahira Rosman from Suku Jakun, Sarah Elissa Tang A/P Aman from Suku Temuan, Veena Angelina Bte Jincis from Suku Semai and Alzariza A/P Alwai from Suku Semai.

The graduation ceremony took place on July 11 and was attended by Orang Asli Development Department (Jakoa) director-general Datuk Sapiah Dato’ Mohd Nor.

In December last year, Malaysia Airlines collaborated with Jakoa on a recruitment outreach programme in Pahang, Perak and Johor.

Malaysia Airlines would also participate in the upcoming Kerjaya Khas untuk Orang Asli on Aug 24 and 25 as part of its cabin crew and cadet pilot outreach programme.
