PUTRAJAYA: The standard operating procedure for filing cyberbullying complaints will be streamlined to make the process easier for everyone, says the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC).
In a statement, the commission said it would work with the police on the matter.

“The government will scrutinise laws, including the Penal Code and the Communications and Multimedia Act 1998, and consider the need to draft or create new legislation to address cyberbullying,” it added yesterday.
MCMC said it welcomes the government’s announcement to review the existing laws to better deal with the issue.
“This sends a crucial signal that the government is committed to and serious about tackling cyberbullying, which has resulted in a loss of life,” the statement read.
It also said this would enable the authorities to enforce the law more effectively and bring those involved to court, thereby providing appropriate justice to those affected.
A nationwide tour would be organised to disseminate information and modules on cyberbullying prevention to all levels of society, said MCMC.
