Umno’s Dr Akmal Saleh slams Lokman Noor’s accusations against him on Sg Bakap polls

KEPALA BATAS: Umno youth chief Dr Muhamad Akmal Saleh has slammed the party supreme council member Datuk Lokman Noor Adam's accusations against him for speaking the truth and described it as immature.

The Merlimau assemblyman said as a leader, speaking the truth about the current issue is important as the party moves forward.

"Today we say something is true, but tomorrow, when we're in a different situation, we want to say it's wrong.

"So the basic principle of leadership that I learned was to speak the truth, even if it is bitter," he said after officiating the Tasek Gelugor Umno youth division meeting here on Sunday (July 14).

Muhamad Akmal said it is clear that the people at the grassroots level wanted to see and evaluate their leaders to determine which leaders truly represent the people's voice.

He said he didn't care about the attack from Lokman as he did the right thing, which is speaking the truth.

Recently, Lokman had criticised Muhamad Akmal after the latter said one of the reasons why Pakatan Harapan and the unity government coalition lost in the Sungai Bakap by-election was due to PKR deputy president Rafizi Ramli's strategy that backfired the coalition.

Muhamad Akmal also was reported to have taken a swipe at Rafizi, alluding to PKR's loss in the by-election.

Lokman in one of his TikTok videos reportedly said Muhamad Akmal should have resigned from Umno and joined Perikatan Nasional.

Muhamad Akmal said it is acceptable to have a different opinion in the party but slammed Lokman for being immature.
