Tampin cops arrest man for repeatedly raping daughter since 2019

TAMPIN: Police have arrested a 52-year-old man in Gemencheh near here for allegedly raping his daughter, and continued doing so after she got pregnant and gave birth to a child.

District police chief Supt Amiruddien Sariman said the man was detained on Sunday (July 14) following a report lodged by the victim's aunt.

"Preliminary investigations revealed that the victim was first raped in 2019 when she was 20 years old and the assaults continued until July this year.

"A police probe also revealed that the victim gave birth to a baby girl who is now four," he said.

Supt Amiruddien said the victim did not lodge a report as she was worried for her safety.

He said police have obtained an order to remand the suspect for seven days.

The case is being probed under Section 376B of the Penal Code for rape which carries a jail term of between 10 years and 30 years and whipping upon conviction.
