Toddler burned by clothes iron in freak accident, say PJ cops

PETALING JAYA: A freak accident has left a 16-month-old toddler with burns while she was playing with her cousin.

Police said that during the incident on Sunday (Jul 14) the victim was at home in Ara Damansara when her cousin of the same age teased her, which made the victim cry.

An older 11-year-old cousin, who was ironing clothes, heard the cries and went to console the victim but the hot iron accidentally came into contact with the back of the victim.

Petaling Jaya deputy OCPD Supt M. Hussin Sollehuddin Zolkifly confirmed the incident, and said that the victim was taken to the hospital and is in stable condition.

He added that no arrests were made and that the statements of five people in the house were recorded.
