Defence Minister among those to be called to LTAT proceeding next month, says PAC

KUALA LUMPUR: The Public Accounts Committee (PAC) will call several top guns including Defence Minister Datuk Seri Mohamed Khaled Nordin to the proceeding of the Armed Forces Fund Board (LTAT) in August.

PAC chairman Datuk Mas Ermieyati Samsudin said the proceeding is a follow-up to the Auditor General's briefing session regarding the Auditor General's Report 2/2024 on the activities of ministries, government departments and statutory bodies and the management of Federal Government companies on July 10.

"For the upcoming proceedings, the PAC decided to call several witnesses namely Mohamed Khaled, former LTAT chairman Jen (R) Tan Sri Raja Mohamed Affandi Raja Mohamed Noor, former LTAT chief executive Datuk Ahmad Nazim Abd Rahman and former LTAT senior strategy director Dayana Rogayah Omar.

"The LTAT proceedings will be continued by the PAC on Aug 7 after the first proceeding on June 20," she told a press conference at the Parliament building on Tuesday (July 16).

Mas Ermieyati said PAC also agreed to start proceedings on issues such as national water management under the Energy Transition and Water Transformation Ministry, as well as the Natural Resources and Environmental Sustainability Ministry on July 29.

Also listed are the Sarawak and Sabah rural water supply project management (July 30) and Mara Incorporated Sdn Bhd proceeding (July 31), both under the Rural and Regional Development Ministry and proceeding of the National Council of Professors under the Prime Minister's Department (Aug 1).

"In addition, the PAC will also continue proceeding regarding the rice planting management programme under the Agriculture and Food Security Ministry on Aug 6.

"This proceeding had been held twice on Dec 13, 2023 and March 26 this year. A total of two working visits were held for this proceeding, namely to Alor Setar and Gurun, Kedah, and to Sekinchan, Selangor," she said.

Earlier, Mas Ermieyati also welcomed and congratulated Seputeh MP Teresa Kok who has been elected as PAC vice-chairman to replace Kluang MP Wong Shu Qi.

"PAC believes that her experience as a former Minister of Primary Industries can make PAC more authoritative in ensuring that every report presented has an impact on the government," she said, while also expressing her appreciation to Wong for her service in the committee since April 4 last year. - Bernama
