KOTA KINABALU: An anti-narcotics operation at a known drug hotspot in Sabah’s east coast Tawau district saw police rope in four male drug users, one of them a suspected dealer, since Saturday (July 13).
Personnel from the district Narcotics Crime Investigation Department (NCID) swept several areas including a water village with a known drug den.
Tawau police chief Asst Comm Jasmin Hussin said the operation was conducted following complaints of disturbances caused by suspected addicts in the area.
In the first raid, he said they detained a 22-year-old local man who was found with 0.21g of syabu on Saturday.
The second raid the following day also saw two local men, aged 49 and 50, arrested in Kampung Tanjung Batu Laut and Kampung Vietnam respectively.
“We seized 0.46g of syabu in that operation,” ACP Jasmin said on Tuesday (July 16).
“On Monday (July 15), we arrested a 25-year-old foreign man believed to be a small-time drug dealer and seized some 12.92g of syabu from him at Kampung Titingan.
“All the men tested positive for drugs,” he added.
Meanwhile, in Penampang, police detained a suspected ecstasy dealer on Friday (July 12).
Penampang police chief Supt Sammy Newton said the arrest was made at an apartment off Jalan Bundusan.
“We found and seized 10 small plastic packets believed to contain ecstasy,” he said on Tuesday.
“The items roughly weighed over 500g and are estimated to be worth RM5,000.
“A urine test on the 36-year-old man also came back positive for methamphetamine and amphetamine,” he added.
