A CAT in Japan’s Ishikawa prefecture continues to wait for her owner’s return, not knowing the latter died during an earthquake six months ago, reported Sin Chew Daily.

The cat, named Mei, had lived with her late owner Kazue Ueno, 86, for the past 10 years.

However, Ueno was killed when a building collapsed on her during an earthquake in the Noto Peninsula on New Year’s Day.

Today, Mei continues to live among the rubble where Ueno’s house once stood.

According to Ueno’s daughter Hideko Takabayashi, Mei does not understand that her owner is dead and refuses to go with her, so she visits the collapsed house every day just to feed Mei.

Driving to the house every day takes 20 minutes as many of the roads damaged by the earthquake are still being repaired.

“We hope Mei can overcome her trauma and come start a new life with us,” she said.

> Malaysian actor-singer Aarah Wong surprised many after winning a prize in a martial arts competition in China, despite having begun learning it only in her 30s, reported China Press.

The 33-year-old, who is based in Singapore, took part in the 14th Beijing National Invitational Competition and won first prize in the 24-form tai chi category.

A modest Wong said she had only trained for two months before her instructor noticed her talent and asked if she wanted to join the competition.

Wong, who mainly sings for a living now, decided to learn tai chi as a form of exercise.

Wong said many of her friends made fun of her, saying the activity is meant for old people.

She said winning the competition is the best way to show her detractors that she had made the right choice.
