RADIO Televisyen Malaysia newscaster Anas Muhammad Farihin, 25, was choked up with sadness upon reading about the death of his friend Nur Farah Kartini Abdullah, 25, during a news programme on Monday night.

“I was choked up. But I had to continue reading the news,” he was quoted by Harian Metro as saying.

“It so happened that it was my turn to read the news yesterday. When I learned about (the death of) Nur Farah Kartini around 9pm, I was stunned.

“My feelings were mixed, questioning whether it was true until a police statement confirmed the incident.

“I was among the first to hear about it. Reading the news was very emotional; I needed to manage my emotions and control my expression,” he added.

Anas said when Nur Farah, affectionally known as Faa among friends, was reported missing, a Yasin recitation was held online by her friends from Universiti Pendidikan Sultan Idris (Upsi), for her safe return.

He described Nur Farah Kartini as a good, polite friend who always smiled.

“We became close while studying at Upsi. We were in the same team for every new student orientation week over three years.”

Earlier, it was reported that Nur Farah Kartini, who had been missing since July 10 after delivering a rental car to a customer, was found dead, believed to have been murdered.

The police received a report regarding the disappearance of Nur Farah Kartini, originally from Miri, Sarawak, and a former Upsi student, at 1.56am on July 10.

She was last seen wearing blue corporate attire, a headscarf and black slacks.

The 38-year-old said the recent affairs among her peers had affected her.

However, she was hesitant to air her views on such issues.

“Whenever I can, I would avoid being too loud about the ‘third party’ issue because I have my own marriage to protect.

“Although I am busy, I will make sure to communicate with my husband as often as I can and practise trust,” she was quoted as saying in Kosmo!
