Man stabs housemate, breaks hip while escaping in Petaling Jaya

PETALING JAYA: A man allegedly stabbed his housemate and then broke his hip while trying to escape.

In a statement on Wednesday (July 17), Petaling Jaya OCPD Asst Comm Shahrulnizam Jaa'far said that the police were notified of the incident at around 5.45am by members of the public.

A man was found bleeding on the fifth floor of a building in a housing area in Sungai Way.

"Medical officers from the Sungai Buloh hospital arrived at the scene to provide medical aid and found 11 stab wounds on the victim's body. Meanwhile, the suspect, who we believe was attempting to escape by jumping out the kitchen window on the fifth floor, broke his hip and injured his right rib.

"Both the suspect and victim were sent to the hospital for treatment," he said.

A knife believed to have been used during the attack was seized. Further checks showed that the suspect had no prior police records.

"So far, the motive appears to be an argument while both were drunk," he said.
